Jay Z, originally Shawn Carter, is one of the most successful rappers of all time. He also came from the most humble of beginnings, growing up in the Marcy Housing Projects of Brooklyn, New York. He was so hood, he shot his brother when he was 12 for stealing his jewelry. That's gangsta.
Music Career
JayFella Records, and released his debut album Reasonable Doubt in 1996. The album went platinum and, since then, Jay Z has been putting out consistent quality albums almost every year, unlike many other rappers who have one good album and several failures, or take extended periods off in their solo careers. Jay Z has been pumping them out for almost 15 straight years.
