Beyonce is currently one of the top R&B singers and one of the most successful female artists of the 2000s. She began her rise to the top of the charts asking you to say her name and remember she's a booytlicious, yet independent, woman. Now she's more than just a dream girl, she's Sasha Fiercebreaking Grammy records and calling up Gaga on both her video phone ''and'' telephone. (Did I get enough references in there?)
Independent Women
Before Beyonce was singletitled album. However, it was ''Writing's On the Wall'' that truly left its mark with the songs "Bills, Bills, Bills," "Bug a Boo," "Jumpin' Jumpin'" and "Say My Name." After a few lineup changes, this independent woman took charge of the group and released ''Survivor'' and later ''Destiny Fulfilled''.
I Am Sasha Fierce
Before Destiny's Child officially broke up, the singer began her solo career and released ''Dangerously in Love''. The album is a mix of up-tempo dance like "Crazy in Love" and warm, R&B ballads such as "Me, Myself, and I." She sings of personal experiences and of course, all matters of the heart. She rejoined Destiny's Child to release their final album and the group disbanded in 2005. The artist branched out in her second album ''B'Day'' using musical influences from the '70s and '80s, as well as incorporating more live instruments. Shakira adds some Colombian soul on "Beautiful Liar" and Beyonce demands you move to the left, to the left on "Irreplaceable." Her latest album ''I Am... Sasha Fierce'' is without a doubt her best and most successful album, earning 10 Grammy nominations and winning 6. "Single Ladies," "Halo," "Sweet Dreams," take your pick, I still hear these songs on the radio. This diva is doing something right!
Lights, Camera, World Domination
In between writing, recording, and touring, she somehow managed to find her way to the film stage. She first starred in the musical film ''Carmen: A Hip Hoppera''. It is a modern, urban take on the opera Carmen. Unfortunately it wasn't a success. She then went on to star in ''Austin Powers in Goldmember'', which gained some notice. This goshirts, posters, live DVDs, and even her official perfume.
